The Follies Of Getting School Certificate!
During the day you dash on with your work at an incredible speed, and at night, besides doing set prep., you are expected to catch up and learn the day’s work. Later in the year we will be allowed to go to ‘late late prep.’ from 10 until nearly 11 o’clock. Tests on everything are given at unexpected times and your work is marked to see that you are up to date.
The accrediting of University Entrance is taken from your term marks as well as your exam results so you have to keep up the ‘cheesing’ (swotting) all the year. In 6th form I took Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Maths., and English.
Sixth formers have many responsibilities around the school. Although not a prefect, I am keeping my job as a lab. Monitor, have been made a member of the Tramping Club committee, and appointed a library prefect which entails long hours supervising in the library. I am also continuing with music. In the house there are many added responsibilities in sports, etc. However, as well as duties, there are also added privileges. For instance, sixth formers sit at the top of the meal table next to the prefect and do not have to ‘pack up’.
All this keeps me very busy.
